The mayor of Junction City seems to have very little rabbit about him. He says: "Personally, if during my administration I have earned the love and good wishes of the poor and the needy, and the confidence of tho business and laboring interests of Junction City, I don't care what all the Pharisees and hypocrites that journey to Topeka can do to me." By mistake this got into the editorial column of tho Emporia Gazette instead of in the joke department where it belonged: "The work of the legislature two years ago was marked out for it, but if it had not been for the Federation of Commercial Interests at Topeka, no very iniportaut railroad legislation would have been passed." The Truth About Kansas.

A booklet just issued by the Emporia Gazette and called "The Blue Book of Lyon County" ought to bo circulated on Wall street. It would do more to show tho financiers of th." curb and exchange exactly the kind of people and of prosperity we have out here in Kansas than all the speeches and essays that can be produced in a twelvemonth. It is not an exaggerated "boom edition," not advertising prospectus just a hundred or si beautiful photographs of town and county scenes that show vividly what a decent, hearty, healthy community is embraced in Lyon county. It is the kind of a book that does good and it is one of which the people it represents should be proud. The best of it is that 105 such books could be issued in Kansas, one for each county, and all would show the same high level of prosperity and contentment.
