Earnie Philips contemplates herding several thousand sheep for John Bearup in the eastern part of Geary county this winter. Miss Nellie Scherer of Chapman visited with her cousin, Miss Stella Murphy, over Sunday. Rinehart school opened this week with Miss Georgia Nichols in the chair and a goodly attendance. Mr. McCoy is mail clerk on the Valley road. The small boys of town thoroughly enjoyed themselves Monday evening by serenading Eugene Kiramerly and wife and Jas. McCoy and wife. The Presbyterian Sunday school and Endeavor surprised Marie Hopkins last evening and presented her with a handsome present for her faithfulness as organist for three years.

After luncheon was served several young ladies sang songs and Rev. Rankin made a speech. The band serenaded at the close of the evening. Miss Marie leaves today for Lindsborg to take a course in music. MOONLIGHT.

Charley Klover was in town Friday. Mrs. Wm. Meirmaster died at her Public Sale. amputated in consequence of a serious injury from a threshing machine, is considered to be out of danger, although crippled for life.

Wednesday, at 7 a. Rev. Father Leary united in marriage our popular merchant, Jas. T. Talbot and Miss Nora Maloney.

The wedding took place at Skiddy at the residence of the bride's parents. Thos. McMillen, formerly of Chapman, now of Angelton, Texas, was married at Hcrington to Miss Abbie MeXaspy on Wednesday morning. Charles A. Stevens has taken charge of a depot on the M.

K. T. road in Oklahoma. He was station agent here for live years. Miss Kate Chapman is visiting her numerous friends in the city.

Miss Klla Slemmer left Wednesday for Abilene. home Sunday morning at 'J o'clock from typhoid fever. She leaves a husband ami two children and a host of friends to mourn her death. She was buried at the German church ceme tery north of town. Tlie stucco mill hands came in from bye.

II. Betz's family, Emery Diehl and sister Dessie and others of this place went to hear Rev. J. J. Chambers, of Jericho, preach in the Lutheran church in Chapman last Sunday evening.

Rev. Chambers is a former resident of this township and a graduate of the county high school. MissTessie Culham will leave here this week to attend the county high school. A line and much needed rain fell at this place last Friday. Mesdames J.

II. and Clarence Taylor were shopping in Abilene Saturday last. While going for the cows, Miss Margie Ilollinger was thrown from her horse and a deep gash cut on the right temple and She was taken to Woodbine to lie near the doctor and is getting along as well as could be expected. Reed Hollinger is not recovering as fast as could be wished but has returned home again. Longford Sunday.

Ed Taylor was in town Saturday. The stucco mill is running night and day now. J. H. Page has purchased a new twelve hoe press drill.

John Goodwin drove to Chapman Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Swick of Oklahoma are here visiting relatives. C.

C. Brown shipped a car load of hogs Monday night. J. W. Fra.ie returned on Saturday from Clay county.

Dist. No. 35 held a special school meeting Monday evening tu discuss the text book plan. Mrs. J.

L. Brechbill expects to go to Arizona after her sale, which ismn Thursday. Harry Solenberger has returned to Marysville after a week's visit with his parents. Clement Wick went to Lawrence on Friday to resume his University work. D.
